Basic Quiche Recipe

Description

A staple quiche recipe for an easy meal or breakfast. Currently I keep it on hand as an easy meal for my one year old.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¼ cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheese of choice
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 onion, diced
  • ¾ cup additives (diced ham, bacon, green onions etc.)
  • dash of salt
  • dash of pepper
  • dash of paprika
  • pie crust (best store bought pie crust)

Instructions

  1. Prepare pie crust. If using store bought pie crust, take it out of the fridge and out of the wrapper but don’t try to unroll it yet. You want it to get closer to room temperature so it is easier to unroll.
  2. Combine milk, cheese, eggs, onions, spices and additives. Mix with a fork until ingredients are well distributed.
  3. Fit pie crust to pie pan and press or flute the edges.
  4. Pour filling into pie crust and sprinkle with fresh ground pepper if desired for looks.
  5. Cover crust with a crust saver or make your own by wrapping foil around the edges of your pan to cover the exposed crust.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees. Bake until cooked through. Start checking for doneness at 30 minutes, expect it to take 45 minutes to bake.
  7. Let cool, then serve!

Notes

Pro Tip: use a 4+ cup glass mixing bowl with measurements to measure your ingredients and save yourself from washing other measuring utensils!

When watching for doneness, take a look at the rise of the middle of the quiche. I find mine will start to rise in a donut like ring starting near the crust and moving inward. When the middle of my quiche puffs up, mine is done!
